The International Indian Film Awards are almost here! A celebration of Indian Cinema on a global platform; IIFA showcases a wealth of talent, honoring the best in India Cinema. Held at exotic locales the IIFA awards is an annual fest for Bollywood and a treat for fans the world over.
This year’s celebrations like the many that preceded it, will be marked by star studded and breathtaking performances. The guru of contemporary and modern dance in India, Shiamak Davar who has been the official choreographer for the IIFA Awards since its inception, will be working wonders with a gamut of celebs to add that extra punch to the evening affair.
The awards, known for their grandeur and excitement bring the best of Shiamak’s creativity to the fore. As the biggest stars perform to entertain and connect with their fans, each performance has a distinct flavor that holds the star’s essence and reflects Shimak’s careful grooming. From Shilpa Shetty’s thumkas in Yorkshire, to Salman Khan’s antics in South Africa, Sushmita Sen’s magic in Malaysia to the Bachchan family’s magnificence in Amsterdam, each act has etched a mark on the memory of fans and is witness to the fact that the biggest and brightest in Bollywood dance to Davar’s tunes.
‘The IIFA awards have helped Indian Cinema foray onto a large arena across the globe. Being an ambassador of our rich culture, I’m always striving to bring out the color, energy and aesthetics of India since the IIFA awards really are a celebration of India!’ says Davar. Shiamak, who is known for his creative brilliance, spearheaded the reformation of performing arts in India. His unique choreography is a visual treat packaged with brilliant choreography, artistic props, majestic sets and glamorous costumes. This keen eye for details is what sets him apart and gathers around him an outstanding fan following of his own.
What quirky or peppy antics he has to offer this year is something Bollywood fanatics just can’t wait to see “Toronto will make a great host and my students are looking forward to being a part of the show. This year’s acts will all be beyond imagination! We’ve already started working and are ready to amaze the audiences” remarks Shiamak.
Interestingly, as Toronto gears up to host IIFA this summer, Shiamak’s dance school centre’s here in the GTA and across the country are also gearing up for a fun filled summer. Shiamak’s summer Funk classes; open to anyone, at any age start May 24th and go on to July 17th when students who successfully complete the summer program will perform to Shimak’s tunes just as the stars do.
